WHO
HE
is

DJ Nadir is a London-raised, London - UAE - South Africa based DJ with over three decades of deep musical heritage, shaped by the record shops, underground clubs and culturally rich music scenes of 1990s London. Starting at the age of 17 with a pair of Technics 1210s and a Pioneer mixer, Nadir developed his craft during an era when DJing was built on record knowledge, selection, timing, taste and the ability to read a room.
His musical education came through London's most respected record institutions, including Release The Groove, Blackmarket, Uptown Records, IF Music, Hard To Find Records and Plastic Fantastic. These spaces formed the backbone of his sound: soulful, intelligent, rhythmically rich and never restricted by trend. From hip hop, jazz, funk, soul and rare groove to deep house, soulful house, lounge, Afro-influenced music and drum & bass, Nadir's range is broad, but always curated with maturity and purpose.
His first DJ booking was at an XL Recordings party in Earls Court, followed by years of playing in bars, clubs and private events across London. During the mid-1990s, he became closely connected to Basil Black II Basic after meeting him at Release The Groove, later working with him on a recording studio and independent label project in Battersea and releasing music on Chilli Funk Records. This placed Nadir within a respected circle of musicians, DJs and creative collaborators , among them Maxi Jazz, Robert Owens, Joyce Sims, Des'ree, Basement Jaxx, Reel People, Moodswings, Pauline Henry, Vanessa Freeman, and Pete Simpson.
After London, Nadir continued his DJ journey through numerous residencies and guest performances in Cape Town and Johannesburg, developing a sound equally suited to intimate clubs, stylish bars, hotel lounges, private members' environments and high-end destination venues. His approach is not commercial or formulaic. He is best suited to venues that value atmosphere, sophistication, musical credibility and emotional connection over obvious chart-driven programming.
DJ Nadir brings the confidence of an old-school selector with the flexibility required by modern premium venues. He understands how to build a room gradually, how to shift energy without disrupting the atmosphere, and how to create a soundtrack that feels elegant, warm, international and memorable.
With a large archive of recorded mixes and a lifetime of musical knowledge, DJ Nadir offers more than a DJ set. He offers curation, atmosphere and experience.
